Meet the Artist

David Wilkin was born in Ohio and moved to Florida's Space Coast at a young age. He has been drawing since he could pick up a pencil. David took his first art lessons in soft pastels at the age of 6. Having ADHD and growing up in a time when it seemed next to impossible to get past the gate keepers of the art world he resigned himself that art would only be a hobby. Then he met his wife. She recognized his talent and passion and pushed him forward to pursue art as a career. It was also at this point that he picked up oil painting and fell instantly in love. He went to college and earned an A.S. degree in Graphics Technologies and graduated during the housing crash in 2008. He spent time looking around but a 2 year degree got nowhere in the job market at the time. Then back to school where he got his B.A. in Art and Emerging Media Management from UCF.

David has been married for almost 30 years and has 3 children. At 50 years old and all of his children now grown, he felt it was time to take the leap. Its time to go for the dream and make art into a career instead of a hobby. Fantasy Art is something he has always been drawn to. His favorite cartoon was the old Dungeons and Dragons from the 80's when it came out. This would later translate over into playing DND back when it wasn't cool. With the artists from the genre like Frank Frazetta, Boris Vellejo, Jeff Easley, Larry Elmore, Keith Parkinson and many more as inspiration for his future works. He started out doing landscape paintings and learned the medium. Then he took the leap and began painting fantasy in oil on canvas. Now doing what he truly loves its time to launch and make it happen.
